EGCG or Epigallocatechin gallate is an extract of green tea. EGCg contains many beneficial compounds such as Polyphenols and Catechins and is particularly rich in phytonutrients. Each 200mg serving contains as many phytonutrients as 2-3 cups of green tea. EGCg is also a powerful antioxidant and has powerful free radical scavenging properties.

Drinking green tea daily is known to help maintain vibrant health and EGCg is thought to be responsible for many of its beneficial effects. However you can be unsure of how much EGCg is actually present in each cup of green tea. It is thought that typically each cup will contain 100mg of EGCg however this can vary dependant on the quality of tea, preparation and storage. For this reason it is often easier to supplement with EGCg capsules so you can be sure of the amount consumed.
